God Bless You,

Whose Hair. (8/14)

14 August

Ezra 9:2-3 NIV

[2] They have taken some of their daughters as wives for themselves and their sons, and have mingled the holy race with the peoples around them. And the leaders and officials have led the way in this unfaithfulness.”

[3] When I heard this, I tore my tunic and cloak, pulled hair from my head and beard and sat down appalled.

Nehemiah 13:25 (AMP)

[25] So I contended with them and cursed them and struck some of them and pulled out their hair, and made them swear by God, saying, “You shall not give your daughters [in marriage] to their sons, nor take [any of] their daughters for your sons or for yourselves.

When you see God’s people caught up in dramatic, blatant sin, WHOSE HAIR DO YOU PULL OUT?  YOURS?  or THEIRS?

In closing, I will share that I heard the verses (from Ezra and Nehemiah) and question a long time ago from some preacher who was passing through the church we attended.  I have often smiled when I have tried to envision these two men in their radical responses to the SIN around them — I mean, isn’t “pulling out hair” a bit over the top?  Have you ever yanked hair out of your body?  Out of curiosity, as I was writing this, this morning, I took a pair of pliars and yanked a very small patch out of my arm — there is nothing humorous about this!

In general I wonder if we as Christians (I will speak first for myself), have grown too tolerant of sin?  Are we loosing our saltiness?  Have we become blinded by the sin’s deceitfulness?  Bill Gothard and many other well known preachers are a clear example of this.  The men started with such a vibrant ministries, and ended in discrace.  How sad!

Lord, please  help us NOT get caught in the entanglements of SIN.  Please deliver us from all evil!

Revelation 3:14-22 NIV

[14] “To the angel of the church in Laodicea write: These are the words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the ruler of God’s creation. [15] I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! [16] So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth. [17] You say, ‘I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.’ But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked. [18] I counsel you to buy from me gold refined in the fire, so you can become rich; and white clothes to wear, so you can cover your shameful nakedness; and salve to put on your eyes, so you can see. [19] Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest and repent. [20] Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me. [21] To the one who is victorious, I will give the right to sit with me on my throne, just as I was victorious and sat down with my Father on his throne. [22] Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches.”

Words of Exhortation and Caution! (7/19)

19 July

“Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in your midst?”

1 Corinthians 3:16 NIV

“Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord. See to it that no one falls short of the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many. See that no one is sexually immoral, or is godless like Esau, who for a single meal sold his inheritance rights as the oldest son.”

Hebrews 12:14-16 NIV

We are given great and amazing Grace and some warnings of caution.

Lord, help me, help us to remember these things and reverence your Holy Name and Temple which we are.  Forgive us where we have fallen short!  ~Amen

God bless you,

In But Not Of The World! (7/18)

18 July

Revelation 5:9-10 NIV

[9] And they sang a new song, saying: “You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals, because you were slain, and with your blood you purchased for God persons from every tribe and language and people and nation. [10] You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to serve our God, and they will reign on the earth .” …*1*

The Lord is making us to be a kingdom of priests to serve him now and forever.

The Christian life is a challenge – Finding the balance of living in this world while maintaining the Ministry to Him in the inner Sanctuary of our hearts.

Lord grant us mercy that we might accomplish all that you have for us to do.

Living With Indecision. (7/12)

12 July

The older I get, the more willing I am to live with indecision.  If my wife and I are not in agreement on somethings, I am now more willing than ever to wait and find the better solution rather than to try to force my way.    More often than not, if I give her the benefit of the doubt, a better outcome is realized!

I guess I am discovering that for every thing there is a time and a season.  Why even the ultimate decisions by God in the Judgments of all people will not be revealed until the time He has appointed.

So while I wait on some decisions, I more clearly discern that some are not mine to make anyway — they belong to others or to God.

However, there are some decisions that are critical to make in the present time.  The Bible indicates that “Today is the day of salvation!”  2 Corinthians 6:2.  This is one decision that can be VERY costly to delay!

Have you interacted with Jesus and asked him to save you?

How do you stack up in the decision making realm?

God bless you in all things!

PLEASE PRAY WITH US:  Lord, please teach me how to make wise choices as I navigate my way through this thing called “life”!

It Is God…. (7/10)

10 July

Philippians 2:13 (KJ21)

For it is God who worketh in you, both to will and to do of His good pleasure.

This is such a delightful promise when there is that part of us that does not readily sleigh itself with our Father’s will!

Create in my a clean heart Oh God!

God bless you in every way!

Are You Celebrating? (7/8)

8 July

Are you celebrating today, or are you facing discouragement?  Certainly feelings of discouragement and elation are very real, but the Resurrection of Jesus is a permanent reality.  Contemplate Jesus lifted on the cross and his suffering there.  Turn your contemplation into prayers — you will encounter new meaning to the verses that say, “By his stripes you are healed.” (Isaiah and Peter).  And JOY will be your reward — undergirded be the greater reality of his Resurrection!

Have a blessed day!

Gratitude. (7/5)

5 July

Many great books have been written on Gratitude.  It is a great medication to take against the deadly dease of “Entitlement”.  Regularly giving thanks, even when we may may not feel like it 😊!

Have a blessed day,

A Blast From The Past. (5/17)

17 May

Today as a Devo, we visit a typical prayer l sent out to many employees (who desired to be on distribution) while working for a large Insurance Company in Hartford.  Because we always included the statement at the end, the company did not attempt to shut it down!

I hope this timeless message adds value to your day!

God bless you all today and everyday!

A New, Clean Hert. (5/14)

14 May

Read: Ezekiel 11:1-25

“[19] I will give them one heart, and put a new spirit within them; I will remove the heart of stone from their flesh and give them a heart of flesh, [20] so that they may follow my statutes and keep my ordinances and obey them. Then they shall be my people, and I will be their God” (Ezekiel 11:19-20).

God desires to be with us and put in the work to transform our hearts and lives so that we can have lives that proclaim God’s way.

Also, remember:  In the opening of his letter to the Philippians, Paul expresses great confidence, “…that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”

Philippians 1:6 – https://www.biblegateway.com/passage?search=Philippians%201:6&version=NIV

So wherever you are today, and whatever your state of mind, you can have HOPE and CONFIDENCE (if it is your desire) that God will be faithful in His promises to watch over you and see you safely to the end of your life’s journey — to be with Him forever!

Please Pray With Us:  God, please so change MY HEART and fulfill your promises for me and to me!  Amen

God bless you all, Pastor Bob & Dale
